The research focuses on adaptation to flooding in the built environment - particularly on participatory decision-making processes, cutting across management and governance. Through different empirical and creative methods, the PhD reflects on a system perspective to flood adaptation, one able to grasp the combined contribution of spatially distributed and diversified flood design actions, through the lens of public and private adaptation. The research frames floods as both natural and socially constructed phenomena, promoting collective governance to prevent maladaptation, while looking at flood adaptation as a common, focusing on Fluid Governance to flood adaptation as a practice-in-the-making.
