The research focuses on adaptation to flooding in the built environment - particularly on participatory decision-making processes, cutting across management and governance. Through diverse empirical and creative methods, the PhD adopts a system perspective on flood adaptation, able to grasp the combined contributions of spatially distributed and diversified flood design actions through the lens of public and private adaptation. The research frames floods as both natural and socially constructed phenomena, promoting collective governance to prevent maladaptation, while viewing flood adaptation as a common, focusing on Fluid Governance as a practice-in-the-making.
