Masterplan
Design: Masterplan for Taranto Old City Center, Italy

With NAUTA, Alvisi Kirimoto, Deltastudio, Milan Ingegneria
Competition, 2016

The project requires the redevelopment of the historic city of Taranto. The city now suffers from a poor relationship with the sea, the exodus of the population and a drop in supply and services in the old center. The project is structured on a curatorial strategy, emphasizing the historic fabric, implementing services for the inhabitants, by restoring the critical situation of many residential areas. The masterplan works not only within the fabric but also on the two waterfronts. In the first case, participatory regeneration projects, both punctual and distributed, increase the role of the university city and cultural attractions. The promenade on the Mar Grande is developed with a double extension, to create public spaces with different relations with the sea. On the Mar Piccolo, a linear park links the different tissues to the sea. This park acts as a inside-outside connection system of squares.
